Fr. Stephen Lake
Fr. Steve arrived in February 2024 to serve as the third rector (senior priest or pastor) of Church of the Resurrection. He holds a PhD in philosophy from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) and a Master of Sacred Theology (STM) from Nashotah House Theological Seminary (Wisconsin).
For over 20 years of lay and ordained ministry, he has served in a variety of preaching, teaching and leadership roles including church planter, supply priest and interim rector. He served on the team that revised the catechism of the Anglican Church in North America called, To Be a Christian: An Anglican Catechism. Most recently, he came to ‘Res’ from ‘Rez’—Church of the Resurrection, Wheaton, IL—where he was an associate priest, working primarily in pastoral care and the special needs ministry called THRIVE.
Before entering full time ministry, Fr Steve taught philosophy for 15 years at the college level. He met his amazing wife Christina while on faculty at Wheaton College, IL. She taught contemporary American literature there for 25 years until her retirement in the spring of 2024. Their son Donovan is on scholarship at a nationally ranked men’s college bowling team. Two energetic canines—Buddy and Princeton—round out their immediate family.
