Update from ACNA

You might have noticed a change in our Prayers of the People. In addition to our archbishop and bishop we are now praying for yet another bishop--our provincial dean, Bishop Julian Dobbs.

Why the change?

You might recall that a few weeks ago, I shared word of accusations and charges brought against Archbishop Steve Wood. In the past week, Archbishop Wood has been formally suspended from ministry (called: an inhibition) pending the outcome of the investigations into these charges. (It is important to note: an inhibition is not a judgment of guilt but a formal procedure to allow the investigations to move forward with integrity.) In his place, Bp Julian Dobbs (from the Diocese of the Living Word) has been elevated to the role of provincial dean--essentially, the second in command--to preside over ACNA affairs in Abp Wood's absence.

All of this was formally reported here.

That is why we are also praying for Bp Julian.

The truth be told: All of these leaders, all the accusers and the entire process needs our prayers. It might seem far off from our parish life, but when one part of the body is impacted, the whole body is. So we pray for truth and justice, for healing and righteousness to prevail in these proceedings and in our church.

If you have any questions or concerns about these matters, please do not hesitate to reach out to me personally. I would be glad to speak with you.

Grace and peace,

Fr Steve
